The "Situation"

Well.....since I'm not allowed to call it by name......I received a communication via mail about the previously mentioned "situation".  With the project back and a partial payment.

At this point I'm done with it all.................I just don't want to deal with it anymore!!!!!  Because in the end, is it really worth it?  I'll let Karma be the deciding factor.

On to other things, its a cold day here in Ohio.  We got about an inch and a half to two inches of snow.  Not much, but it sure looks pretty!!!!

The flu seems to be going around, here's knocking on wood that no one in my family gets it.

So most know that I stitch for Aury of AuryTM Designs.  This year is her first trip to market in Nashville and I wish her the best of luck.  I know everyone will love her designs as much as I do!!!!!

Well some know I do a lot of model stitching.....So I thought I would do a post with the models I've stitched.  These aren't all of them, some have not yet be released.

Another post!

Two blog posts in two weeks...............WOW!!!  LOL, I'm nothing if not one for shock factor.

Well its been a busy week.  Work has been totally crazy and I can't blink half the time!  But, that makes the days go fast, which is good right??

So I have a question, and comments are more than welcome.  Back in July/August I was asked to do a model for a pretty well known designer.  I was asked to use my own floss with the knowledge that I would reimbursed for my floss.  The fabric and pattern were both mailed to me, but the fabric wasn't big enough.  The designer requested me to stitch the model in two different ways, one as individual ornaments and one as a long banner (the banner was almost 6ft long!).  I stitched the ornaments and waited for the next piece of fabric to come so I could stitch the banner.  When the fabric for the banner arrived, I informed the designer that it would take me 3 weeks to stitch the banner, and she agreed that this was just fine. (just in case you didn't already know, 3 weeks would be 21 days)  I was able to stitch the banner and return it to her within 17 days.  When I inquired when I was going to be paid, she informed me that I did not complete it within in the time frame I set.  She also told me that the design was not stitched fully and she had to finish it herself.  When I told her that I did send it in the time frame stated, she informed me that since I didn't finish it in time for her to show it at Baltimore market, she would "think" about paying me.  I talked with another great designer friend (thank you Aury!) and she suggested that I send her a paypal invoice, estimating the cost of floss; the $250 she indicated I would be paid for stitching the items and the UPS shipping (because it was ONLY acceptable to UPS the items, not USPS).  I sent the invoice and gave her a month to pay, she at this point owes me over $330.  I even sent 3 different reminders.

So here are my questions :

  1. Do I persue legal action?  Is there an ability to file in small claims court for something outside of my state?
  2. Do I "out" the individual?  The issue with questioning this, she uses the same model stitchers because she doesn't stitch and I was a new stitcher with her.  I know in her little "clique" she is highly respected (and pardon the phrase, her friends think her "shit don't stink" as my daddy would say) and my fear is if I tried to out her, no one would believe me (even though I have every one of her emails!)

New Year......New Goals

Since its a new year, I'm going to start out with new goals.  Not really a LIST of goals, just things I want to accomplish.  First is going to be blogging more.  I've been slacking on blogging, I don't even know WHEN I started this blog but I'm going to give it a shot at getting it active again.

I'll say that mostly, I'm a positive person but honestly, my husband and I can get into some heated arguments.  So I'm going to try to change that this year, because I know I am a horribly stubborn person.

I also am going to be doing my cross stitching as much as always (would anyone expect anything less), but I'm going to have a bin of kitted up patterns that I'm ONLY going to stitch out of.  If something new comes out that I can't wait to start, then I'll swap it out from one that is already in the bin.  Once everything in the bin is done, then at that point I will stitch other items.

So here is what is in the bin:
Tribal Santa Hat by White WIllow Stitching
Special Delivery by Just Nan
Aury's Reindeer (that I have a hand dyed green for that I can use to stitch the deer at LEAST 2 if not 3 more times for ornaments for next year)
Garden Party Cakes by Nora Corbett
Bethleham by Imaginating
Love Quaker Style by Aury
Vintage Christmas by Country Cottage Needleworks
Old Glory by Rosewood Manor
Needle and Thread by Little House Needleworks

Poppy by Nora Corbett
Sabrina by Mirabilia
Lighthouse Island by Rosewood Manor
Tiny Treasured Diamond by Mill Hill
Long May She Wave by Shepherds Bush
The Nativity by MarBeck (its already been started but not by me so that doesn't count as a WIP!)
This started out as the "Crazy January challenge" but I altered it for my liking!
I also want to be better at uplaoding pictures.  Horribly lacking on my part, this blog is almost picture free.

This is me and my baby boy.  He's the light of my life.  I can't imagine life without him.

All three of my guys.  Its been 4 years since we've been able to spend a holiday with my husbands son.  So nice to be able to have him back!  And Brandon LOVES his older brother.
On an additional note, if anyone has a spare prayer hanging around, please pray for my nephews.  They are in a very scary situation and their father is stationed in Egypt.  His wife is trying to do what she can for her step-sons but its not easy.  I hope and pray every night that those boys will be able to get out of that situation, but sometimes the legal system doesn't work the way we would like it too.  So prayers would be appreciated for that side of the Bush family!!
